2009 Reunion

Well we did it! The rain held off and when all was said and done, about 150 Drum Corps alumni gathered at Camp Russell for an afternoon of reliving old times and meeting old friends. The Capital Brass played for over an hour and they were awesome! Rich Powell showed his slide show/powerpoint and it was fun to watch and produced great memories. There were 10 notebooks full of pictures and clippings and many people brought some of their treasures to share with the group. Rachel Gilbert Shepler brought a quilt she made with all the Pittsfield Drum Corps on it and all the alumni present signed the back of the quilt with their name and corps and years. Bob McCaffery came in from Nevada, Marty Hopper from Arizona, Mike Petell from Texas, Jack Noonan from Chicago, and Brian Chisholm from Florida just to name a few. Many more traveled in from all over the east coast. Not only were all 7 Pittsfield corps represented, but the Spiegalaires from Troy as well. The Marksmen also sent a large contingent and it was good to meet those folks as well.

Some people told us that they met friends they hadn’t seen in over 40 years. There certainly was a lot of hugging going on! It’s just what the reunion committee envisioned – good friends, good food, good venue, good times! E’Sprit d’ Corps!
